Species: ANGLESITE Locality: Madison Lead Mine, Madison, NH Specimen Size: A 0.45 mm crystal Field Collected: Bob Wilken Catalog No.: A Bob Wilken specimen & photo Notes: An unusual lemon yellow crystal. This comes from trace lattice defects and minor substitutions (usually Fe³? or other trace ions). These don’t require visible inclusions — they can tint the crystal uniformly. Classic anglesite localities (e.g., Monteponi, Sardinia) produce bright yellow crystals that are chemically pure. |
